In lieu of this morning’s Pre-Caffeinated Wisdom, I’m just going to say “Thank You.”

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. There was a shocking inflow of them, and it took me a little while to find where FB collected them. While I didn’t have the time to respond to each, I did read each of them, and I’m touched that so many people cared enough to say something, especially knowing that I’m bad about not keeping up with birthdays (even my own).

Not once did my phone ring. I didn’t get a single txt message. (Some people would feel neglected, but those who know me know how much I hate my phone, so this was awesome. Maybe my phone screwed up, maybe everyone just left me alone, either way, the silence of my phone made my day unexpectedly relaxing.) I slept until noon, got some awesome gifts from my family, then pretty much vegged out the rest of the day. I tried to stay off FB, I did absolutely nothing productive whatsoever, and the most taxing thing I did was spend a few hours on the WoW Beta. Exactly the kind of day I had wished for. The only thing missing was going for a ride on the bike, but I decided I didn’t feel like leaving the house. I’ll make up for it today.

I have a history of disastrous birthdays, and every time someone asks me what I want to do for my birthday, my answer is always the same: Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It’s so rare to have a day that’s not so packed with responsibilities and things needing done that I can barely figure out where to start, and then end up running myself ragged on an emergency that popped up out of nowhere. The last time I had a birthday on a Sunday, my phone was blowing up before 8am with my boss at the time screaming at me about an emergency at the office. I expected something similar, but no, it was a great, relaxing day, where I finally got to do exactly what I wanted: Nothing.

Thank you all. And now, back to the maddening Chaos of the real world. — at Castle Grayskull (Zombie Plan HQ).
